When I bought my first scanner in 2000, I was so excited by its photographic posibilities  that I scanned  hundreds of leaves  The Arbutus trees close by were suffering from a fungus disease, which  left them susceptible to insect attack. Because of this, many of the leaves were not only exquisitely blotched and speckled, but were laced with the trails of leafminers. And they were just so beautiful with all their imperfections !
