|Alvie has always loved to take photographs. In the sixties he set up a cramped and determined little darkroom in the family bathroom, which slowly, over many years and numerous relocations, managed to evolve into a large, well-equipped bonafide darkroom in the basement of his home on 36th. I have memories of many hours spent with him watching the miracle of an image emerging on the paper as it floated in the developing solution.|
|Alvie took this picture of mountain wildflowers in 1974 or '75.
It's always been one of my favourite pictures.

|He took this portrait of Chinook in our living room in 1973.
She was one of those very careful, beautifully groomed cats,
and his photo captures this perfectly.
