Loving these round grey stones. The size of my palm, smooth as skin. Their weight, their balance, the generosity of this place. Five waves on the beach, ten waves. To do this, I have to have complete trust. English Bay. Neon raincoats, green glass. Conversations run by. Circling the stones, the rake in wet sand. A man gives a blessing. Gathering glass shards on Vesuvius beach. Everything helps. Ogden Point, the cry of oystercatchers. Glass pebbles in my hands. What I want to keep, I give away. Spanish banks, a minus tide. 1200 shells upon the sand. A beach towel, a flag, a net, a blanket. The little girl guessed right. You know. The wild beach around the corner. Between the tides, three curved blue tendrils. Mussel shells flowering in the sand. Island View beach, three waves in the seaweed. Taking care of a place, you see how many others are helping too. |
